EXHIBITIONS - Two Bodies, The Future Perfect, 2024
Two Bodies highlights objects from Ajl’s two distinct bodies of work on display: “Erratics,” a series of wood, brass, and aluminum furniture pieces inlayed with brass casting, and “Saguaro Works,” a range of glassworkmade with a studio-specific mold making
Erratics takes inspiration from nature. Erratics are chunks of rock enclosed in glaciers. As the glaciers move, these rocks fall away, depositing themselves in places outside the rocks’ normal context. The erratics become jewel-like moments that can disrupt the linear flow of the work.

Saguaro Works encompasses mold-blown vessels and large scale furniture works. The forms are made serially, but the molds allow for chance, experimentation, and gesture, generating an ongoing library and playspace of forms. As each mold is reused, due to the looseness of the system, each piece is unique, ranging in scale, and complexity.
